The entire Asian economic region continues to represent a hot-spot for the IT and communications (ICT) sector. China is already ranked highly among the world's major ICT markets and, according to experts, the country could even seize the top spot by 2015. Thanks to excellent location conditions, growing domestic demand and an ongoing process of infrastructure modernization-e.g. through the introduction of latest-generation mobile standards-China is creating the basis for sustainable growth in the ICT sector.

CeBIT Asia provides the perfect platform for this growth. Last year, the fair expanded the established display categories of IT Security, VoIP, Digital Hhome and Robotics by adding four new ones: Display Equipments and Technology, IP Network Technology and IPTV, Software Outsourcing and Storage Solutions.

For the first time in its history, CeBIT Asia was held in tandem with two other key specialist trade fairs of the Asian economic boom: CeMAT ASIA, which covers all areas of materials management and logistics and PTC ASIA, which is designed for the growing market in power transmission and fluid power. Holding these events together makes good sense. Indeed, the reality of modern industry is that software solutions and mechanical and plant engineering are becoming increasingly symbiotic. It is practically inconceivable that cutting-edge process and manufacturing automation could exist without digital technologies.
